Siphon Draw from Crosscut; Superstitions, December 13, 2016 GPS Map

Leaving home in the dark, you never know what you’re going to get on a sunrise hike. Anyway I started at first light from Crosscut Trailhead, hoping to catch the dawn colors.

There were at least a hundred people hiking the Siphon Draw Trail, even on this weekday. Some were of my generation, but most were younger. I met another dozen or so on Jacob’s Crosscut Trail, hikers and horseback riders.

The Siphon Draw Trail braids as it gets close to the Teaspoon. Some parts are very steep. The trail goes high above the Teaspoon, may have been rerouted but not improved. Jacob’s Crosscut Trail has been improved on its northern mile.
