Arizona Trail passage 17; Superior, December 12, 2020

Being a natural early bird, I left the house at first light. Didn’t think I’d get to Picketpost Trailhead in time to see a colorful sunrise, but that’s the way it happened.

There were already cars at the trailhead when I arrived, then lots of people on the Arizona Trail. I heard voices in the distance. Sounded like they were coming from Picketpost Mountain, but I didn’t see anybody.

Alamo Canyon Road is officially closed, but the scenery is better. So I came back that way.

Intricately layered rocks.	I can see you with my good eye.
A vein of quartz in the layered rocks. Where you see quartz, there might be gold.
Nest in a Teddy Bear cholla. Look, but don’t touch.
Hmmm, this looks like a good Turning Point.

Yes, there were a few flowers, even in December.	Not all prickly pears are green.
